Frankly, I love JFK Jr.

Am cozied up tonight watching Oprah’s 1996 interview with John F. Kennedy, Jr. who I had always had a fairly serious crush on (but really, who didn’t have a crush on this amazing man?).      I even had a crush on his wife – was totally smitten with her beauty, her grace, her style – she was just lovely – Caroline Bissett Kennedy.

This man was eloquent, articulate, and graceful.     And frankly, was much more enjoyable to watch and listen to than his interviewer.      Thankfully for America, Oprah has grown, matured, become more introspective, and has decided to listen more, and speak less (she has, hasn’t she?)

JFK Jr. is 50 today.     The world saluts YOU John Kennedy!

(these are some of my favorite photos)

You and me both! I feel almost embarrassed (for lack of a better word) but I became smitten with Jackie and her kids, quite by accident, when I had to pick a subject for a Junior High book report and figured the Kennedy’s were always on the shelf! I built on that book report until I became a kind of low-grade Kennedy-phile (back in the pre-internet days that was slightly more impressive 🙂

Just the other day, it hit me that JFK Jr. has been gone nearly 12 years? 12 years? How did that happen? I’m still not quite ready to believe his mother has been gone nearly 20 (I round up). I remain forever glad, however, that if he had to go, she went first. I would not have wanted her to live through losing this son too.

It’s also a testament to the truly “classic” beauty and style of his lovely wife, Carolyn, that photos of her taken 15-20 years ago don’t look “dated.” They are so stylish and classic they could have been taken last week – rather than in 1995.
